Veilingen die opeens doorgeschoven worden - huh?

Een kort tijdje geleden verschoof Roma Numismatics ineens de einddatum van haar veiling met een paar dagen door "onvoorziene omstandigheden".

Vandaag kreeg ik een mailtje van Triskeles:
Due to unanticipated circumstances, we regret to inform you that we have decided to reschedule the closing of our sale. It was originally scheduled to close beginning tomorrow morning but we have changed the closing date to Monday, July 16. We deeply regret any inconvenience this may have caused you and ask for your understanding as it was necessary to do.

Bij Roma dacht ik nog aan computerproblemen maar nu begin ik meer te denken dat er wellicht te weinig biedingen zijn geweest en dat men door de einddatum wat door te schuiven hoopt op meer en/of hogere biedingen?

Zijn dit alleen online veilingen, of hebben ze ook een 'echte' veiling die verplaatst werd?

Volgens mij zijn dit puur internetveilingen. Vandaag kreeg ik weer een mail van Roma Numismatics dat ook hun huidige veiling voor een groot aantal lots verlengd gaat worden:

Lots 360-1044 in E-Sale 47 have been extended to 23:59 tonight, local UK time, to allow any clients who were unable to access the site today sufficient time to place their bids. Please note that so customers who have already placed bids are not unduly disadvantaged, ALL LOTS will close at the fixed time of 23:59 - lots will not close at 10 second intervals.

Our server hosts tell us the server was under DDoS attack... whether this was indeed the case remains to be seen but it is a line of inquiry we will be pursuing, and the site will be closely monitored until the auction close. Please note that the site will go offline for about 20 minutes after the auction closes (this is perfectly normal) while it collates the auction results. In any case we are pleased to say that E-47 already represents a stunning success for our consignors - even with the severe problems experienced today. Our priority now is ensuring that our bidders will be equally happy, and won't have missed out on any lots that are important to their collections.
