1848 25 cent small dot variant?

1848 25 cent small dot variant?

I bought this coin recently, admittedly the photos were quite bad but it looked to me like the no dot variant, I'm in NL at the moment so got my father to check it out, weight and diameter are all fine but on closer inspection there is a very small dot there which is visible in the photos my father sent me. It's not the normal diameter or size and the wear on the coin in my opinion isn't enough to warrant the change in size. Anyone have any ideas why this might be the case.
